A Lazy man’s guide to Servanthood

115.jpg

Well I guess it is now time to get down to the nitty gritty. I have been privvy to one on one disciplship with several people over the last few years. It is amazing to see that some choose the apathy and complacency of life over the choice to follow Chirst with total abandon.  It is time to see the “BIG” picture. Eternity hangs in the balance, while you choose to __________ (Fiil in the blank). Whatever is in that blank better be pretty important, since you have quit following the great commission, have sat down and decided to wait for Jesus to come back. The picture above sarcastically says “Everyone Look Busy”, I say it is time to stop looking and start being. James would tell us to be doers of the word and not hearers, or talkers only. We spend so much of our time trying to figure it out and package it up and present it (it = Gospel/Chirstian Life/ministry) that IT gets forgotten, and traded for man-made suffiency. Jesus would teach the Disciples that it is not our own personal feelings, or decisions which dictate how we serve, it is the leading of the Spirit. Here is the challenge for this week.

Get out the Spiritual Microscope and look at your life, all the way down to the DNA (Pattern of material that is your being). Are you buillt right?, have you accepted Jesus as your Saviour?  If so than are there parasites in your system which you have let overpower the healthy members. If so submit yourself to God for major surgery, and let Him change you so that your overbearing, selfish and quite sinful will is destroyed so that you can obtain His holy, righteous and perfect will.

DiscipleshipMent

0037_ip.jpg

 Wanted: Disciples

For: Ministry (Sevant Leadership)

Requirements: Skills varied, able to serve at a moments notice with pure heart, love for the sheep, love for the Lord, and most of all complete abandon of selfish desires

Cost: everything

I was looking online at all the different Christian retail stores (Family Christian, Lifeway , Calvary D etc..) and not one of them carries disciples. Wouldn’t it be great if they did, I mean you could choose your ministry preference, there work and family ethics. You could even pick a personality type. But we all know that disciples aren’t bought there made, and some of us (sometimes—even me) forget how they are made. Read the rest of this entry »

Methodology vs Theology

postcard.jpg

Who has ever seen Sy Rogers, well more than likely if you cringe when I ask that you will never be blessed by Him. This says volumes to me about how much tunnel-vision we allow ourselves in the area of Methodology vs Theology. How do you seperate or identify yourself in this area. Over on the SMP right now there is a really good discussion about identifying as a CC. What are some unique methods you currently use at your church, or what would you like to see used in the future

Now you throw it back to me

Why?

Why?

Why?

Why is it so hard to remain faithful in all we do, is it because we are human, or is that a cop-out. It is amazing to me how quick we forget what God has told us and trade for our own inadequacies, or hang-ups. Here’s a better one than that taking a leap of faith into human failure and then actually accusing God of giving a vision that wans’t for right now. I think we need to learn how to forsake all, forsake your thoughts, your intentions (Good or bad), your inclinations, your will. Forget everything and only follow Him, accepting everything He has and not wanting anything else.
